Gender Equality & Women’s Empowerment Program

  • Enable women and young girls to participate as leaders in peace and conflict resolution processes, politico-economic and governance related decision making.
  • Facilitate communities to prevent conditions inimical to women and young girls social, economic, emotional and psychological wellbeing.
  • Capacitate communities protect women and young girls from sexual and gender-based violence

GEWEP is an awareness, capacity development and technical support program to demonstrate social, political and economic viability of gender equality. To puruse this, Women’s reproductive health rights, Women’s ecnomic empowerment, non-violence and women’s inclusion in peace building efforts at all levels are its key features. Under this program, IFT works with NGOs, government, networks of NGOs and communities, across Pakistan. GEWEP became a full fledge operation in 2008 following the organizational strategic review. Before this, women’s rights education was relatively at a low profile, mostly as punctuations, in the debate of rights and peace related activities.
